Work in SA for UK company.
By Marc Sevitz · Updated
I'm a South African resident. I have a prospective job offer from a company in the UK. I will remain living in SA and work for them remotely. How does the tax work if I am to be paid in Pounds? Do I get taxed in the UK and in SA?
The offer on the table at the moment is between £30k - £38k PA.

Will they be paying you into a SA or UK account? Do they have offices in SA or only the UK?
They will be paying into my SA bank account.
They currently only have offices in the UK.

If they are not registered as an employer with SARS in South Africa, then they won't be deducting tax from you. It would be best just to confirm this is indeed the case with them.
If so, then you will need to register as a provisional taxpayer and pay tax 2-3 times per year on your earnings.
What is Provisional Tax? How and when?
You will need to declare your Rand income and remember to deduct any business related expenses you incur.
Let TaxTim assist you to complete and submit your tax return to SARS. We can also assist with completion of your provisional tax returns.

Thank you very much for the info.
