Tax deductions on R6,300 per month

I am earning R6,300 per month and I have notice that there is a deduction of PAYE and my employer never told me about it. Is this legal for him to deduct without my knowledge?

How much qualifies me to pay PAYE?

Are you sure the deduction isn't for UIF of R63 as you should only be paying R9 a month for PAYE. Please make use of our SARS income tax calculator to work out he PAYE. Yes it is legal for him to deduct this amount.
