Submitting tax for the first time
By Evan Robinson · Updated
I am submitting my tax returns for the first time. I am doing it through a tax consultant. He says SARS is now asking for proof of address, bank statement and a copy of my id?
Is this normal?
If so how long does this process take?

Yes, this is entirely normal and the process can take up to 21 workings days to take effect.
Remember to:
- provide a certified copy of your ID
- proof of address (e.g.. utility bill, rates and taxes bill, lease agreements) must be less than 3 months old
- Original letter from your bank/bank statement with all your details and the bank's details. This cannot be more than 3 months old and must have the bank's stamp on it.
