Submit tax return without IRP5

By Marc Sevitz · Updated

My ex-employer hasn't given me an IRP5 yet and it doesn't look like I will get one. I do have one IRP5 for 9 months of the tax season from a different employer. Can I submit my tax return without the outstanding IRP5? I was told to get an affidavit from the police station stating that I was not given an IRP5 for the 3 months from my ex-employer.

You can yes, but that means your income will be incorrect. Have a look on eFiling and see if both IRP5's are on first?

I've confirmed that there is no IRP5 for the 3 months. The company has closed down and I cannot get hold of the owner so it doesn't look like I will ever get an IRP5 for the months that I worked there. Will an affidavit be sufficient?

IF you have your payslips then you can use those, your bank statements, your employment contract and an affidavit as proof for SARS.

Is this something you can assist with or do I need to go to SARS directly?

You will need to go to SARS unfortunately as they will have to see all your documents and you need to explain that situation.
