SARS tells me that I received a fringe benefit filed under Code 3808 and that I now owe them

Is there something that I have not claimed or acknowledged?
When you submitted your ITR12, was there an amount next to 3808 on the IRP5/IT3a on the return?
Yes. Around R30 000.
And that was not supposed to be there? You can click the dispute button and file a Notice of Objection with SARS and explain what happened. Get your employer to write a letter stating no Fringe Benefit and submit that as well.
