Refund after completion letter
By Evan Robinson · Updated
Hi. I submitted my tax return on the 2nd July and was told to submit supporting documents, which I uploaded the same day. On 14 July I received a completion letter stating:
"We refer to the verification of your assessment for the 2015 tax period. Please note that no adjustment has been made to this assessment. However, in terms of the Tax Administration Act the South African Revenue Service reserves the right to conduct further reviews in future if required. Should you have any queries please call the SARS Contact Centre on 0800 00 SARS (7277). Remember to have your ID number or income tax number at hand when you call to enable us to assist you promptly. "
I would like to find out how long SARS will take to pay our my refund?
Thank you for your help

It should take a day or two now, if you have not received anything by the weekend please let us know.
Hi there. Thank you for your post. To date, I have still not received my refund.
The only reason SARS would delay payment can be if you need to verify your banking details (they will send you a letter for this) or if you need to submit outstanding tax returns. You will need to call SARS on 0800 00 7277 to find out if there are any tax returns outstanding.
Thank you. I have called the number provided and they said that I should receive my notice of assessment within the next two weeks. Is there anything left for me to do now?
No there isn't, unfortunately it is in SARS hands now.
