Please explain why a person that is 65 or more pays less tax

Why a person that is 65 or more allowed to pay less tax?

Older people are allowed to pay less tax becuase in most cases they have retired from work and are living off pensions or retirement funds. Therefore SARS considers their different and more difficult circumstances and is more lenient on them.
