No returns and tax number but have been earning a salary.

What would happen if you have no income tax number and have not submitted returns for 5 years. What happens when you withdraw?
your pension.

It may not be possible for you to withdraw your pension without submitting old returns. It would be best to normalise your tax situation first which hopefully won't lead to penalties.

You need to collect as much paperwork as possible and go to SARS and present your case informing them that you do not have all your documents. They would need to assist you somehow in coming up to date with your returns. Can you not obtain any of your previous IRP5's?
