Medical expenses but no Medical insurance
By Marc Sevitz · Updated
If you are self employed and do not pay for medical insurance and pay out of pocket for all medical expenses can you still deduct these?
Yes, you would include them in the Medical section of your Tax Return as long as they are "qualifying" expenses.
"Qualifying medical expenditure" is anything which was specifically prescribed by a doctor or similar health care professional as well as Dr appointments.
Therefore, over the counter medicines wouldn't be included.
