Medical aid tax rebates

Is your tax rebate higher if your medical aid contribution is made by your employer instead of done privately?

It won't make a difference, however please bear in mind that if your employer makes contributions on your behalf to a medical aid these will be included in your taxable income and taxed as a fringe benefit.
