I need my tax number from SARS and how do I get it?

I've jusy got a job and I dnt have a tax number. When I call at SARS the tells me I don't hav a tax number and I to go to the branch and apply there. And I need my tax number soon. Isn't there other way I can get my tax number without going to the branch? Please help

Unfortunately you will need to go into a branch, but your employer can register you as well for a tax number.

Ohk, if I go to the branch what should I come along with I mean ID etc..and how long would it take to get my tax number?
