Earn a salary in the UK and will be moving to SA permanently
By Nicci Courtney-Clarke · Updated
We are a couple who recently moved to Cape Town from the UK. I am a South African and my wife is Swedish. She is here on a temporary residency visa. We both draw directors salaries from our company in the UK. My wife also works remotely for a company in the UK. We do as yet not have employment in South Africa but have some money invested here. Would taxtim be able to assist us considering that our circumstances aren't all that regular?
Are you planning on staying in SA permanently?
Yes we are. Currently my wife has a temporary residency permit but we are in the process of applying for her permanent residency.
We can assist you once you are registered as taxpayers in South Africa which you should do soonest. Once you have your permanent residency you will be seen to be taxpayers in SA assuming this is where you are setting up and intend to stay. You will then be subject to all tax on all earnings worldwide, however any taxes paid in the UK on income earned there will be allowed to be offset against any of the taxes owing in SA.
