Do students doing internship pay tax and also earning less than R5000?

I have been paying tax since I was a house committee at the university getting less than R500 then I became student assistant and got paid less than R4000 and still paid tax now i'll be doing my internship and will be getting around R5000 I want to know how much does one has to earn to pay tax because someone told me it has to be more than R5000?

If you are working part time then you will have 25% withheld and paid to SARS even if you fall under the current annual bracket of R70 700 per year.

That is why you have had tax deducted, but you should have filed returns to claim the tax back. You can still do this for older years.

You need all the IRP5's received for each year. You should file as soon as possible.
