Do stay at home moms need a tax number?

Hi I'm a stay at home mom with no income. I live in South Africa. Someone said I should get a tax number. Do I need a tax number? Will it be necessary in my future in case I divorce or am widowed or a senior? Shall I pursue it? How would it benefit me?

Yes I worked many years ago in 1990 to 1995 and earned an income.

You dont need to register for a tax number now as this might require you to submit annual tax forms showing 0.00 income, should you need it later you can go into a SARS office and they will give it to you immediately.
You can call them and check if they still have a tax number for you, kindly call SARS at 0800 007 277 and ask them to check this for you.
