Contributing to Botswana medical aid scheme, is it tax deductible?
By Marc Sevitz · Updated
I am a tax returning resident to South Africa. Been working in Botswana for the last 16 years and tax returned to work in RSA from June 2014. I have been contributing monthly to a medical aid scheme in Botswana(BOMAID), will this be deemed tax deductible to SARS?
Do you not claim the medical aid expenditure in Botswana?
Are you able to use the medical aid cover in South Africa?

If you pay tax in SA you are allowed to use your foreign medical aid as a deduction if that enables you to use the medical aid here in SA (and you don't obviously claim any tax benefit for it in Botswana).
