I am a salaried employee of a large corporate company, but I also earn commission from a part-time business, for which I have a dedicated office at home. This commission is paid into my bank account and I receive an IRP5 for it. Am I allowed to claim expenses like telephone, stationary, renovations in the home office, catering expenses, etc?

Hi. Thanks for your prompt reply, but the link refers to questions about commission earned from the same employer. I have 2 separate income streams & receive 2 different IRP5 documents. My question relates to claiming tax deductions for the part-time income, not the main one.

Yes, the home office expenditure would relate to your commission income and you should apply the questions to this income stream.

I assume your work at the corporate is office based and therefore home office expenditure is not applicable.
