Can you claim for vehicle usage if you used your private car for work and got a detailed logbook for it but did not receive any travel allowance or car allowance?
How did you use your vehicle for work purposes?
I used my vehicle to go to meetings and to visit clients
If this is written into your contract and you can prove it to SARS then you can depreciate your vehicle based on the Wear and Tear calculator and apportion that amount for the business mileage over the total mileage.
Thanks - unfortunately it was not part of my contract - I did it while I was acting in a position - Got appointed now with the benefits and will then claim next year. Seems it is my loss for now.
IF you can get your employee to provide a letter, SARS may accept it and allow the deduction.
