Can I fole if I am unemployed?

Hi I was retrenched last year in August and got another job in November the 1st and resigned in January. I have been unemployed since then, can I claim tax return even if I'm unemployed?

Yes, you should file a tax return to see if SARS owes you a refund, or if you owe money to SARS. Since you worked for a part of the tax year, it might be that SARS in fact owes you some tax back. This is because you would have paid tax based on the assumption that you worked for the full 12 months of the year.
