Am I a provisional tax payer?

By Marc Sevitz · Updated

If I earn less than R20 000 a year selling AmC pots plus earn a normal salary do I have to register as a provisional tax payer?

No you are not a provisional taxpayer as you are below the threshold.

Maybe my question was confusing. Let me rephrase. The salary from an employer is above the threshold but the additional income earned from selling the pots is under R20000. Should I then register as a provisional taxpayer.

Salaried employees are exempt from registering as a provisional taxpayer unless they earn more than R20 000 from other sources in which case if they do then they are required to register as a provisional taxpayer. Given that you earn less than R20 000 per annum from your other income then you would not need to register as a provisional taxpayer.
