Do you mind explaining what recent communication you are referring to?
Did SARS contact you in your personal capacity or are you referring to the business communication they issued about R350 000 income and not being liable to file a tax return?

Hi. I received an email from SARS, addressing me as "Dear Taxpayer,
.... According to our records from last year you may be one of those taxpayers who no longer need to submit a tax return to SARS.
Certain criteria need to be met before you are required to submit an income tax return. So before you prepare to submit a tax return, why not check first?
You do not need to submit a tax return if ALL the criteria below apply to you:
Your total employment income / salary for the year (March 2015 to February 2016) before tax was not more than R350 000
You only received employment income / salary for the full year of assessment (March 2015 to February 2016) from one employer
You have no other form of income (e.g. car allowance, business income, taxable interest or rental income or income from another job)
You do not want to claim for any additional allowable tax related deductions (e.g. medical expenses, retirement annuity contributions, travel expenses, etc.)."
Tax Tim, please let me know if take this option by SARS, do I still need to submit IRP6 twice a year?

We do not advise following those criterion from SARS as going forward should you be receiving a refund or need a Tax Clearance SARS will not issue this without all previous tax returns being filed. SARS also issued penalties for outstanding tax returns despite this notice being sent out. If you are only earning income from one source which is a salary then you do not meet the definition of a Provisional taxpayer?
Thank you very much!
Only a pleasure!
