What does it mean when you receive a message from SARS notice issued for 2008 and 2013?

 

A: This means that SARS has issued you with an assessment which is the ITA34. This is an income tax assessment issued by SARS after the submission of your annual tax return, and you need to log onto SARS eFiling to have a look at it and see if you agree, if not then you can dispute the assessment with SARS. In essence, it is a SARS summary of your total annual income and expenses, and deductions and shows the result of what SARS has calculated from the information you submitted. An ITA34 will also show if you owe SARS money or if you have a refund due to you for that specific tax year.

You can use the following steps to view your ITA34, assessment on eFiling:

• Log in to SARS eFiling
• Click on the RETURNS TAB
• then click on the RETURNS HISTORY tab
• and then click the 2015 tax return and you will be able to navigate to the ITA34 which is the assessment.
